Ingredients
1 x sheet puff pastry
100g ham
4 slices of your favourite cheese (I used smoked gouda)
1/3 cup grated cheddar cheese
1 tbsp tomato sauce
1 tbsp mayonnaise
egg wash (1 egg & a dash of water whisked)
To garnish - sesame seeds & chopped spring onion or chives
Makes 6 small scrolls.
Method
Remove puff pastry sheet from freezer and allow to defrost for approximately 10- 15 minutes before use. Preheat your oven to a moderate temperature and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
Paste the tomato sauce and mayonnaise on the pastry sheet, leaving approx one inch at one end of the sheet spare. Then continue to evenly layer the ham and cheese on top of the tomato sauce and mayonnaise.
Coat the spare inch of pastry with egg wash then roll up the pastry towards the end with the egg wash.
Once rolled, cut off any excess pastry at either end to ensure consistency of size and filling.
Evenly cut the roll into 6 pieces and transfer to baking tray.
Coat the rolls with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Bake in the oven for approximately 20 - 25 minutes or until golden and lightly browned.
Garnish with spring onion, chives or your favourite herbs.
